Commitment to Tyre Safety Recognised in Latest Tic Awards

The TIC awards was set up four years ago to recognise and reward individuals or companies within the UK tyre industry that make a major contribution to the tyre safety work of the tyre industry in the UK. A number of well known names in the industry have received this coveted award. entyrety - a provider of a wide range of technical and business services to the tyre and automotive industries support the TIC as the awards sponsor for the third consecutive year.

The TIC Professionals Award recognises an individual or organisation that has contributed to the Council's roadside tyre check or tyre safety clinic programme. Last year the award went to Derbyshire Police, this year another police force, Cheshire Constabulary received the award for its commitment and support of the North West of England Tyre Safety Campaign, a recognised and successful regional tyre safety initiative. The award was presented to Nick Woodcock of Cheshire Constabulary by Brian Smith, chairman of TIC.

The TIC Industry Award was initiated to reward the company or an individual making a major contribution to the tyre safety work of the TIC, the award last year went to National Tyres and Autocare, this year the award was presented to North Eastern Tyres for their commitment and supported for the North East of England Tyre Safety campaign that has run for many years.

The newly instigated TIC Training Award has been introduced to recognise the importance of training in the tyre industry - in nit's inaugural year three high profile tyre industry companies were nominated, BA Bush, National Tyres and Autocare and Norwich Union Insurance (Automotive). The winner of the award, selected by an independent panel was BA Bush.

The TIC also has a special award within the gift of the Council that recognises a contribution to the work of the TIC in the area of tyre safety - it has only been awarded twice. This year the contribution made by Dougie Coulter of Bridgestone Northern Ireland was considered to be worthy of presenting this award. Dougie has worked with the TIC for over 12 years within the very successful Northern Ireland Tyre Safety campaign, an event that pulls together all the key tyre industry companies in Northern Ireland, tyre manufacturers and retailers, for his tireless and total commitment to the pursuit of tyre safety he received the TIC special award.
