Four Fiat Group brands join tyre safety campaign
Published 23rd September 2010
Four vehicle brands within Fiat Group Automobiles UK have announced their support for the UK’s leading tyre safety campaign group, TyreSafe, taking the number of vehicle manufacturer members within the organisation to ten.
Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Fiat and Fiat Professional will promote the importance of correct tyre care and maintenance across their 328-strong, UK retail and service networks. The Fiat Group’s support will begin by fully participating in this October’s tyre safety month by offering drivers free tyre safety checks at its dealerships.
“We are delighted by Fiat’s decision to join TyreSafe and become the latest vehicle manufacturer trying to reduce the number of tyre related accidents and injuries,” explains Stuart Jackson, chairman, TyreSafe. “With such an extensive network and customer base, their support and involvement will be a valuable addition to our efforts in educating drivers about the importance and simplicity of regular tyre checks.”
Safety is a key priority for Fiat Group Automobiles, as demonstrated in the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta, which is ranked best in class by Euro NCAP. Through its membership of TyreSafe, the Group will develop its safety credentials even further. It already provides a series of useful ‘how to’ guides on its website, which includes advice on how to change a wheel and how to check your tyre tread and all retail customers’ vehicles are given a full vehicle health check to ensure they are in a safe and roadworthy condition.
“With our emphasis on improving safety and educating drivers, joining TyreSafe is an obvious move,” explains John Murray, sales manager, parts & service for Fiat Group Automobiles UK. “Their experience and wealth of knowledge will help us enormously in educating our customers about the need for regular tyre checks and starting with tyre safety month, we will utilise their campaigns as an integral part of our ongoing dialogue with owners.”
