TyreSafe sign up to EU Road Safety Charter
Published 1st November 2006

TyreSafe has committed itself to a road safety initiative which seeks to halve the number of road deaths on European Union roads by 2010.
Together with many other European companies and organisations, TyreSafe, through the Tyre Industry Council has signed the EU Road Safety Charter. The charter integrates companies, associations and other groups in an effort to reduce the number of people killed in road accidents from the current level of 40,000 to 20,000 in 2010.
The European Road Safety Charter is much more than a policy document. It is an invitation to undertake concrete actions, assess results and further promote the need to reduce road fatalities. TyreSafe has made a positive statement and confirmed actions to raise the awareness of the importance of defective tyres and their impact on road accidents particularly on wet roads.
TyreSafe will work with other Charter signatories to co-ordinate actions to support the objectives of the Charter particularly in relation to accidents here in the UK.
