Under pressure - Pressure washers can damage your tyres

Hand car wash teams have mushroomed dramatically in the UK in the past few years. Estimates suggest that there are between 5,000 to 10,000 two or three man teams up and down the country offering this service to motorists.

Regional tyre safety campaigns judged a success

Two of the longest running tyre safety campaigns in the UK, the Scottish and Northern Ireland events, have maintained their success and once again underlined the dangers of driving with defective or bald tyres.

TyreSafe - the way ahead for tyre safety

The important part that tyres play in road safety will be boosted with the launch of TyreSafe. The Tyre Industry Council has adopted the TyreSafe brand to extend and enhance important tyre safety messages and has received the backing of leading tyre companies and tyre retailers in the UK. TyreSafe will develop campaigns to promote key safety messages to all drivers.

Additional tyre safety clinics announced for Scottish winter safety campaign

Motorists in Scotland will have additional opportunities to obtain free tyre safety information in the run up to next week’s Tyre Safety Week. In addition to the tyre safety clinic to be held at the Fort Shopping Centre outside Glasgow, on Friday and Saturday of this week, the road safety team at Lothian and Borders Police will be staging a tyre safety clinic at Fort Kinneard in Edinburgh.

TyreSafe sign up to EU Road Safety Charter

Reducing the number of people killed in road accidents by half - TyreSafe is signatory to European Charter. TyreSafe has committed itself to a road safety initiative which seeks to halve the number of road deaths on European Union roads by 2010.

Scottish Campaign - a success

The annual Scottish Tyre Safety Week has proved to be one of the most successful arranged in recent years. The Fort Shopping Centre close to Glasgow again hosted a tyre safety clinic and over a two day period over 300 Glasgow motorists took advantage of free tyre checks.

The Scottish event also received support from the Association of Chief Police Officers for Scotland, Glasgow City Council, Road Safety Scotland, the AA and RAC and St Andews Ambulance.
