Mercedes-Benz UK is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler AG, a globally leading producer of premium passenger cars and the largest manufacturer of heavy and medium-duty trucks in the world.
The UK operation is responsible for the import, marketing, sales and aftersales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, vans and trucks as well as the innovative smart fortwo coupé / cabriolet models and the Maybach luxury saloon, in the UK.
The company employs over 700 people at its headquarters in Milton Keynes and its Used Commercial Vehicle centre at Wentworth Park near Barnsley, Yorkshire. In addition, approximately 2,000 people are employed through its company-owned new and used Mercedes-Benz passenger car and smart retail outlets (this does not include the staff employed by retail franchise partners).
The Milton Keynes Headquarters is also the location of the company’s European Logistics Centre (ELC), which handles spare part distribution for the Retail Network across the UK and the ROI for all Daimler’s brands. In the region of 170 people work here, picking more than 20,000 parts lines every day.
Located just a 15-minute drive away from Mercedes-Benz UK’s headquarters is the company’s Apprentice Training Academy at Denbigh, Milton Keynes. The Academy provides professionally delivered and recognised training for students – young technicians and trainee parts advisors who are undertaking three-year block-release courses as part of their employment with dealerships within the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car and Commercial Vehicle networks. Twenty two staff are employed at this site.
Mercedes-Benz UK has seen dramatic and dynamic growth since 1975, with sales increasing from 5,530 passenger cars (Excluding SMART) to 74,919 in 2010 (Including SMART).
