Helping fleets cut cost, risk and carbon through smarter tyre management

Tyres are the only point of contact between a vehicle and the road — yet for many fleets, tyre safety remains one of the most overlooked aspects of risk management. Poor tyre maintenance doesn’t just endanger lives; it costs businesses money, increases emissions, and exposes operators to legal risk.

The TyreSafe Fleet Resource Hub brings together all our latest guidance, toolkits, and educational materials to help businesses, local authorities and fleet professionals manage that risk more effectively.

Whether you manage a fleet of company vehicles, grey fleet drivers, or mixed commercial operations, these free resources will help you put tyre safety at the heart of your compliance, cost control, and sustainability strategy.

Why tyre safety matters for fleets

  • One in three road collisions involves someone driving for work.
  • Over half of tyres on UK roads are underinflated, with 35% driven at least 8psi below the manufacturer’s recommendation.
  • Around 200 people every week are killed or seriously injured in work-related road incidents.
  • Tyres that are just 20% underinflated can reduce fuel efficiency by 3% — costing a fleet of 100 cars over £10,000 a year in wasted fuel.

Tyre safety isn’t just a technical issue — it’s a compliance, cost, and carbon issue. Every tyre check helps prevent incidents, reduce emissions, and save money.

Explore our fleet toolkits

TyreSafe has developed three dedicated toolkits — in partnership with industry leaders — to support every type of fleet operator.

1. Grey Fleet Toolkit

In partnership with Driving for Better Business (DfBB)
Many employees use their own vehicles for business journeys, creating a “grey fleet” often overlooked by company policies. This toolkit helps employers manage that risk effectively.

Includes policy templates, driver checklists, and communication materials to bring grey fleet drivers in line with corporate safety standards.

In collaboration with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme)
