TyreSafe, the UK’s leading tyre safety charity, has joined forces with Bath & North-East Somerset Council to promote tyre safety awareness and help reduce incidents caused by illegal or poorly maintained tyres across the district.
The partnership will support the Council’s ongoing road safety work by providing access to campaign resources, expert advice and supporting training materials to raise awareness of the importance of regular tyre checks among local drivers. TyreSafe’s research shows that a significant proportion of drivers in the UK are on the roads with tyres below the legal tread depth or in dangerous condition — putting themselves, their passengers, and other road users at risk.
By working together, TyreSafe and Bath & North-East Somerset Council aim to improve understanding of tyre safety, encourage regular maintenance, and ultimately reduce avoidable incidents, including collisions and breakdowns, in the region.

The partnership will see tyre safety messages integrated into local road safety campaigns, community events, and social media activity. It will also give schools, businesses, and community groups in the area access to TyreSafe’s educational materials and seasonal safety toolkits.

This collaboration is part of TyreSafe’s wider mission to work with local authorities across the UK, embedding tyre safety into community-level road safety initiatives and helping to create safer roads for all.
