Partnership strengthens efforts to reduce road deaths and serious injuries across the county
TyreSafe is proud to announce a new partnership with West Yorkshire Police, strengthening the shared commitment to improving road safety and reducing the number of people killed and seriously injured on the county’s roads.
The partnership comes at a critical time for road safety in West Yorkshire. In 2025, 51 people lost their lives and a further 1,210 suffered serious injuries on the county’s roads.
By working together, TyreSafe and West Yorkshire Police will help raise awareness of the vital role that tyres play in keeping road users safe, encouraging drivers to carry out simple, regular checks of tyre pressure, tread depth and overall condition.
West Yorkshire Police joins more than 260 organisations working in partnership with TyreSafe to promote safer motoring and improve public understanding of tyre safety. The charity’s network of supporters continues to grow, with an increasing number of police forces recognising the importance of tyre safety as part of their wider road safety activity.
The partnership also supports the ambitions of West Yorkshire Vision Zero, which is working to eliminate deaths and serious injuries from the county’s roads.
While road safety depends on a range of factors, tyres remain the only point of contact between a vehicle and the road. Correctly maintained tyres are essential for braking, steering and grip, particularly in challenging weather and road conditions.
The collaboration will help reinforce important road safety messages and encourage road users across West Yorkshire to make tyre checks a routine part of looking after their vehicles.

“Vehicle safety is an important part of that work, and tyres are fundamental to a vehicle’s ability to stop, steer and maintain grip. We are pleased to be working with TyreSafe to help raise awareness and encourage road users to take responsibility for checking and maintaining their tyres.”
TyreSafe educates and supports road users with remembering the importance of regular tyre maintenance and to check their tyres at least once a month and before long journeys.
Simple checks can help drivers identify issues with pressure, tread depth and tyre condition before they become a safety risk.
The partnership with West Yorkshire Police represents another important step in TyreSafe’s mission to reduce tyre-related incidents and make Britain’s roads safer for everyone.
