TyreSafe is pleased to announce a new media partnership with On Air Media Group, strengthening our ability to deliver tyre safety messaging through creative, high-impact broadcasting.
Building on successful campaigns including Tread Safely and this year’s Under Pressure campaign, the partnership combines TyreSafe’s road safety expertise with On Air Media Group’s production and broadcasting reach to engage motorists, riders and fleets nationwide.
TyreSafe Chair Stuart Lovatt said:
“Radio remains one of the most powerful ways to reach drivers while they are on the move. Together we can ensure more people hear, understand and act on tyre safety.”
Future activity will include interviews, live features and targeted campaigns supporting seasonal road safety messaging and fleet engagement.
TyreSafe has announced a major new partnership with Good Egg Safety CIC, bringing together expertise in tyre safety and child passenger safety.
Following an initial pilot with Bradford City Council Road Safety Team, the partnership will deliver joint child seat and tyre safety clinics across the UK.
The initiative reflects a practical whole vehicle safety approach—protecting children inside the vehicle while ensuring the vehicle itself is safe.
Joint clinics will provide:
Child seat checks and guidance
Identification of incompatible or unsafe installations
Tyre inspections covering tread, pressure and condition
Practical safety advice for families
The partnership will be formally showcased at the TyreSafe National Briefing and Road Safety GB National Conference later this year.
TyreSafe has also announced a new partnership with the Road Haulage Association (RHA).
Working with the RHA’s network of more than 8,500 member companies, the partnership will promote tyre safety best practice across commercial vehicle fleets, supporting compliance, efficiency and safer operations.
Recent TyreSafe engagement work identified a continuing maintenance gap affecting smaller and regional operators, reinforcing the need for practical education and support across the sector.
New Partnership with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service
TyreSafe is proud to be partnering with North Wales Fire and Rescue Service to integrate tyre safety messaging into existing road safety initiatives across the region.
The collaboration will support community engagement, roadside education and wider campaigns delivered by the Service, helping motorists understand the role tyres play in maintaining control and reducing collision risk—particularly on rural roads.
Partnerships like this remain central to our mission to reduce harm caused by illegal and poorly maintained tyres.
New analysis of Strategic Road Network data has highlighted growing concern around tyre-related breakdowns involving horseboxes and trailers.
The findings reveal:
Around 4,830 towing-related breakdowns annually
One in four linked to tyre failure
Horsebox tyre failures up 21.5% since 2022
Trailers now accounting for almost half of tyre-related towing incidents nationally
TyreSafe is urging horse owners and transporters to follow the A.C.T. check before every journey:
A – Air Pressure C – Condition T – Tread
When transporting horses, tyre failure becomes more than a vehicle issue—it becomes an animal welfare issue. Free equine tyre safety guidance remains available via TyreSafe resources.
TyreSafe Communications Lead Emma Burley recently delivered a speaker session at the Young Driver Focus Conference at The Mall, highlighting the importance of educating young and newly qualified drivers about the role tyres play in vehicle performance and safety.
Young and inexperienced motorists remain a key vulnerable road user group, and education continues to be vital in reducing avoidable incidents.
Logistics UK – Operating Light Commercial Vehicles
TyreSafe Chair Stuart Lovatt and Operations Director Michael Bourne were pleased to present at Logistics UK’s “Operating Light Commercial Vehicles” event.
Speaking to a packed audience of operators and fleet professionals, they shared TyreSafe’s vision of zero harm caused by illegal and poorly maintained tyres and highlighted how preventative maintenance and improved tyre safety awareness can reduce incidents and improve operational safety.
Thank you to Logistics UK for providing an excellent platform for collaboration and discussion.
Burton in Kendal Enforcement Operation
TyreSafe was pleased to support a tyre safety enforcement and education operation at Burton in Kendal service station, delivered alongside Lancashire Constabulary Commercial Vehicle Unit, Cumbria Constabulary and DVSA.
Chair Stuart Lovatt and Operations Director Michael Bourne joined enforcement partners in checking vehicles and reinforcing the vital importance of safe and legal tyres.
Special thanks to Inspector Holly Lockwood of Cumbria Police for coordinating the operation and to Transense Technologies plc for loaning its tyre inspection tool to support onsite assessments.
Virginnia Ellis, Deputy Chair of National Roads Policing Operational Intelligence and Investigation was also in attendance to witness the tyre inspections and results in action and to speak with officers on scene as they carried out their enforcement duties.
Preparing for Child Safety Week
Despite challenging weather conditions in Bradford on 18 May, TyreSafe joined Janis James MBE and the Good Egg Safety team for filming ahead of Child Safety Week this June.
The team carried out tyre and child seat safety checks, helping families understand that safe journeys depend on multiple layers of protection—from correctly fitted child seats to safe, roadworthy tyres.
We look forward to sharing more from the initiative soon.
