TyreSafe Supports Urgent Call for Action Following 2025 ALARM Survey
TyreSafe supports the Asphalt Industry Alliance’s (AIA) urgent call for Government action following the release of the 2025 Annual Local Authority Road Maintenance (ALARM) Survey, which highlights a deteriorating road network in England and Wales. With a £17 billion repair backlog and roads being resurfaced only once every 93 years, TyreSafe stresses the impact on road safety, particularly on tyres.
As a member of the Pothole Partnership, TyreSafe is collaborating with key stakeholders to address the growing crisis of road surface degradation. The latest ALARM survey found that over 50% of local roads have less than 15 years of structural life remaining, with 12% requiring maintenance within the next year. Poorly maintained roads increase the risk of tyre damage, heightening safety risks for all road users.
Celebrating Five Years of Partnership: TyreSafe and Ring Automotive
TyreSafe is proud to celebrate five years of partnership with Ring Automotive, a leading innovator in tyre care solutions. Since becoming an official TyreSafe supporter in March 2020, Ring Automotive has been instrumental in promoting tyre safety across the UK. Their ongoing commitment has helped amplify TyreSafe’s message through hands-on support at events, active sharing of campaign materials, and the provision of award-winning tyre care products that empower motorists to maintain safer vehicles. As we mark this milestone, TyreSafe extends a heartfelt thank you to Ring Automotive for their continued dedication to improving road safety. We look forward to building on this successful partnership and continuing to make a lasting impact together.
TyreSafe Partners with BikeSafe to Support and Advocate Motorcycle Safety
TyreSafe is proud to announce a strategic partnership with BikeSafe, the UK’s leading police-led motorcycle safety initiative. This partnership aims to raise awareness among motorcyclists about the importance of regular tyre maintenance.
BikeSafe workshops – delivered by Advanced Police Motorcyclists – will now include dedicated content on tyre safety. TyreSafe Chair, Stuart Lovatt, highlighted the significance of this partnership, saying, “Tyres are the only point of contact between a motorbike and the road. Keeping them in top condition is essential for staying safe. This collaboration allows us to reinforce the importance of regular tyre checks to reduce incidents and improve rider safety.”
TyreSafe and FORS Join Forces to Improve Fleet Tyre Safety
TyreSafe has partnered with FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) to enhance tyre safety standards across commercial fleets. FORS, a leading voluntary accreditation scheme promoting best practices for transport operators, provides guidance on safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
By integrating tyre safety into the FORS framework, this partnership ensures that fleet operators are equipped with vital information to reduce incidents, improve fuel efficiency, and maintain legal compliance. TyreSafe Chair Stuart Lovatt said, “Our partnership with FORS allows us to reach thousands of fleet operators, helping to prevent incidents, reduce breakdowns, and ultimately save lives.”
Surge in Motorcycle Registrations – TyreSafe Offers Vital Safety Guidance
With a 20% surge in new motorcycle registrations in 2024 and registrations in December 2024 up by 114% compared to the previous year, TyreSafe is urging all riders to prioritise tyre safety this Spring. As more riders hit the road – for leisure, commuting, or work – it’s essential that they perform regular tyre checks, particularly after long periods of storage. Spring conditions bring unpredictable weather and potential road hazards such as potholes and debris, increasing the need for properly maintained tyres.
TyreSafe is launching new motorcycle tyre safety resources to provide essential guidance to riders and road safety partners, ensuring everyone on two wheels is prepared for a safer season ahead.
New Partnership with Tilly Your Trailer to Improve Agricultural Road Safety
TyreSafe is delighted to announce its partnership with Tilly Your Trailer, a national inspection scheme dedicated to improving the safety of agricultural trailers on UK roads. Founded by Jane Gurney after the tragic loss of her son, Harry Christian-Allan, in a trailer-related incident, Tilly Your Trailer promotes structured annual inspections to ensure trailer roadworthiness. This partnership supports TyreSafe’s mission to engage all road user groups, including those operating in rural and agricultural environments where the risks of unsafe tyres and poorly maintained trailers can have devastating consequences.
